During a press conference called urgently, the mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, specified that the computer intrusion was detected around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, when an email account belonging to a City employee has been associated with
Mr. Boyer believes that the account in question was hacked by the intruder(s), using a method commonly used to commit computer attacks.
In total, the digital attackers were able to steal around 600 megabytes of data. If the City says for the moment that it ignores the content of the stolen documents, it ensures that the information of the citizens is not at risk, any more than the municipal databases.
