The UMQ wants to sign a $2 billion green pact with the next government

Against the background of the climate emergency and the electoral campaign, the Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ) is calling for a “green pact” with the next government of Quebec.

“The ecological transition is happening in cities. With our colleagues, what we want is for the next government to seize the opportunity for us to be partners” in the fight against climate change, launched Valérie Plante, mayor of Montreal and president of the ‘UMQ.

The major cities are asking the next government that these $2 billion be included in their budgets in order to respond to problems on the ground, such as the upgrading of water drainage infrastructures, to deal with the episodes of torrential rain caused by the change climatic.

More details to come.
