Texans terminate Antony Auclair’s contract

The preparatory calendar ended, all the teams of the Goodell circuit had to reduce their workforce to 53 players for the season which will begin next week. Auclair’s name was not on the Texans’ final roster. The two parties had agreed to the terms of a one-year pact.

The veteran of five NFL campaigns, first four in Tampa Bay, where he won Super Bowl LV, then one in Houston, fell out of action early in training camp due to injury to a knee, which he is still nursing.

Mainly used in a blocking situation, in support of offensive line players, Auclair does not compile offensive statistics like other players in his position. He scored his first and only touchdown in the NFL at the start of last season.

The doors of the Goodell circuit opened to him in the spring of 2017. At the end of the draft where he had not been selected, the former Rouge et Or of Laval University had initialed a contract with the Buccaneers as a player autonomous.

The Texans have three tight ends in their roster for the start of the calendar, namely Pharaoh Brown, Brevin Jordan and Teagan Quitoriano, a rookie chosen in the fifth round (170th rank) of the last auction. Houston will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 11 for the first weekend of activity.

With four division championships during the 2015-2019 period, the Texans are no longer a shadow of themselves. The team posted poor records of 4-12 and 4-13 in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
