The Disney+ streaming platform is currently working on a live-action series about the famous giant gorilla King Kong. The production will be a combined adaptation of the original 1933 film, by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Shoedsack, and recent novelizations by Joe DeVito
The monster will star in this new series written by Stephany Folsom, who has worked on the series among other things. Paper Girls and The Lord of the Rings : power rings (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power). Stephany Folsom will also serve as producer alongside James Wan, director of popular horror series The Conjuring and Insidious.
The synopsis has not yet been revealed, but the action should take place on the island of Skull, where we can explore the mysteries surrounding the origins of the mythical gorilla.
An enduring popularity
The first King Kongreleased almost 90 years ago and considered a cinema classic, has already been the subject of several adaptations, in particular the film by Peter Jackson released in 2005. It will however be the first series in shots real on the subject.
A sequel to the movie Godzilla vs. Kong and a Netflix animated series are also on the program for the icon of fantastic cinema.
The Disney+ series is in the early stages of development and no filming or broadcast date has yet been announced.
