Through his positive attitude, his effective retorts and his ability to lead the debate, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois is probably the leader who scored the most points during the Face to face VAT, according to experts.

“I think he managed to present himself as a credible option, to respond well to attacks, while offering things. It also occupied a lot of space, so I think that in that respect it is a success, ”says Philippe Dubois, professor of political communication at the National School of Public Administration.
Without declaring Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois the big winner of the evening, Professor Mireille Lalancette, from the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières (UQTR), however, underlines his “very positive speech”.
“It’s good to get young people, who are tired of this confrontation and this very negative perspective of politics. […] He is a brilliant man, he is a skilled communicator and he was very well prepared, ”she pleads.

“It can have the perverse effect of appearing erased. Because during a lot of exchanges, Mr. Legault was either in the background or quite passive. At the same time, it may have allowed him not to appear arrogant, which seems to be a criticism that comes back to him, ”he believes.
Ms. Lalancette found Mr. Legault impatient and combative, he who delivered attacks mainly directed at Quebec solidaire.
Conservative Party leader Éric Duhaime delivered a “mainstream” version of himself, according to our two political scientists.
“We felt it maybe a little more calm, but maybe less effective than we expected […] He had a few good lines, but we did not see him as combative as in rallies, for example, ”illustrates Mr. Dubois.
All the chefs still managed to pass their lines, the experts point out.
