Canada will face Japan a week before the World Cup

Canada Soccer’s men’s national team will face Japan on November 17 in their final preparations for the World Cup in Qatar a few days later. The friendly match will take place at the stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Less than a week later, on November 23, Canada will play its first game in major international competition against Belgium. It will be the first time since 1986 that Canada will participate in the Men’s Soccer World Cup.

With an eight-week gap between our September games and our first FIFA World Cup game, it’s important for our players to experience this level of international intensity with our preseason game against Japan.said John Herdman, head coach of the national team.

Japan have consistently qualified for the knockout stages of the last editions of the World Cup so this will be a good test for our team.

Canada is in Group F with Morocco, Croatia and Belgium.

Between now and November, Maple Leaf players will take on Qatar on September 23 in Austria and Uruguay on September 27 in Slovakia.

The country confirmed its place at the 2022 World Cup by winning a match against Jamaica on March 27 in Toronto.
