529 cases of monkeypox in Ontario

Three-quarters of those infected are in Toronto and all but three are men.

Sixteen patients with the disease have been hospitalized and two are in intensive care.

There are also nine probable cases in Ontario.

Monkeypox is spread through close contact with an affected person’s lesions, clothing, or bedding.

Symptoms include skin rashes, swollen glands, or fever.
